How it's worked out

Every criterion has to be met. Anything not ticked is a question for the customer before the rebate goes on the quote.

What changed in July 2026

For applications submitted after 30 June 2026 the combined household income cap fell from $210,000 to $150,000 a year. The rebate did not change: up to $1,400, or up to half the system's cost, with an interest-free loan of up to $1,400 that the customer can choose when they apply.

Solar Victoria no longer offers a battery rebate or new battery loans. The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program is the battery incentive now: see the battery STC calculator.

Questions installers ask

Does the system size matter?

There is no size limit, only the $1,400 maximum rebate.

Can the install go ahead before approval?

No. Solar Victoria's approval has to come before the installation.

What about a home that is still being built?

Its owner can apply. The property value is the value once construction is complete.

A tool does one sum. Solar Base does the whole job.

The STC count, the NMI, the meter alteration and the invoice, worked off one job record, with the last step left to you.
